Fit Profile: Michelle Obama

Michelle Obama, aka MObama, has proven herself as a woman of grace who can do it all and still look amazing. How does she do it?

Being former First Lady and a mom tops the list as one of the busiest jobs, so when does Michelle have time to work out?

Michelle usually wakes up around 4:30-5 a.m. to fit in a work out consisting of weights and cardio, often with her hubby, Barack.  Her famously toned arms are a result of a strenuous arm routine of tricep pushdowns and hammer curls. Yoga and Pilates are regulars in her work out routine as well, to help her stay flexible.

What does Michelle do to enjoy her workouts?

As a distraction, Michelle is known to watch Sports Center as she works out, which is why she claims she knows so much about Tim Tebow and Mark Sanchez- Talk about multi-tasking. When she’s not watching Sports Center, Michelle is listening to music; particularly her favorites, “Whip My Hair” by Willow Smith and “Get Right” by Jennifer Lopez.

Focusing on what matters…

Michelle hates dieting so she doesn’t do it. Instead she tries to keep her weight at a certain level. Michelle says, “Being a healthy woman isn’t about getting on a scale or measuring your waistline- and we can’t afford to think that way. Instead, we need to start focusing on what matters- on how we feel, and how we feel about ourselves.”

Michelle eats five meals a day; breakfast consisting of stir-fried veggies, tofu or oatmeal, a snack of apples and honey straight from the White House garden or a protein shake. She makes lunch the biggest meal of her day, usually full of fish, vegetables, brown rice or a potato.
