We’ll cut to the chase: there’s more to hair salon marketing than a curated Instagram feed. While yes, a great Instagram will be helpful, there are many other marketing tools in the figurative tool belt. We’re here to help you ramp up your marketing and bring in new customers.

Create a Website or Landing Page

While listing your hours on your social media profile is helpful, having a website is even better! Think of your website like a digital storefront: you can post your hours, flash sales and even sell inventory (if you have it). A great website will help you bring in customers and retain them.

Key pages to include are: a frequently asked questions page, your location and store hours, an about the business section and a list of services. We also recommend having an online booking system!

Design a Loyalty Program

Loyalty programs (sometimes built into subscription programs) are becoming more and more popular. Loyalty programs help you take your current client base and grow it, by referring you to their friends. It’s a quick and easy way to increase your word of mouth.

Make sure you customize the loyalty program for your business. A common method is to provide a small discount to someone whenever they refer a friend, say 10% off. But if that doesn’t make sense for you, find alternative ways to incentivize referrals. You can give a discount on product or potentially give them something that is low cost.

Collect All Client Reviews

Digital word-of-mouth is an amazing way to improve your marketing. Websites like Yelp, Google and even ClassPass aggregate customer reviews so that potential clients can get the skinny on your business. Make sure you are monitoring reviews and problem solving when a bad one arises. If you currently have no reviews, look at starting a review campaign where you ask clients to leave you a review online.

Set Up Your Google My Business Account

Google My Business is a feature on Google where you can “claim” your business and include information. This is super helpful because your business will show up if people look up “hair salons near me.” You can also add attributes to your business to call out what makes you unique, for example, there is a women owned business attribute!

Sign Up with the Chamber of Commerce

While it’s not the most exciting marketing tactic, it is helpful to make sure you work closely with your local chamber. They have resources at their disposal to promote your business to an engaged group of citizens.

List Hair Salon on ClassPass

And finally, look into adding your inventory to ClassPass! You can sign up online in less than 10 minutes and list your business for free. This allows you to tap into new audiences and reach thousands of ClassPass customers in your area.
