You can expect a 45 to 60-minute workout that focuses on total body conditioning. As with all classes, try to arrive 10-15 minutes early so you can stretch and ask any questions you have, especially if itâs your first time to a studio. At the start of class, most barre teachers will ask if there are any first-timers, in which case, raise your hand. If they donât ask, make it a point to seek the teacher out beforehand and let them know youâve never done this type of workout before.
Since the movements are small and precise, the instructor will be able to focus extra attention on you and make sure youâre doing all the moves correctly. Generally, youâll know instantly if youâve got it right since youâll feel the burn.
